With the advent of the con­cept of Smart-grid, my research team lever­aged the exist­ing home and build­ing automa­tion sys­tems that had been devel­oped with the years of pri­or research and devel­op­ment to show­case a pos­si­ble real­iza­tion of the Smart-grid con­cept. We devel­oped and incor­po­rat­ed a demand-response algo­rithm and demon­strat­ed its real-time oper­a­tion achiev­ing ener­gy effi­cient light­ing con­trol system.
